The Ballet Center is a non-competition, performance-based dance studio located in Bristol, Rhode Island. We are proud to offer dance training in a friendly, family atmosphere and we believe that good technique can be learned in a safe and trusting environment. It is our goal to help each student be the best dancer they are meant to be.
We offer classes in classical ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. We limit our class size therefore ensuring that every student receives the attention they need to help them grow. We have dance classes for children as young as 3 and all the way up through young adult. We take pride in balancing the highest quality dance education with fun events throughout the year such as seasonal parties, spirit weeks and challenges!
In the summer we offer Summer Dance Workshops during which students can explore dance styles as well as several fun Dance Camps, full and half day.
Every February The Ballet Center dedicates a week to “Love Your Body” encouraging students to work on positive body imaging, using the mirror to only correct dance technique and not to criticize themselves in a destructive manner. During our culmination performance in June all parents (and visitors) will be able to read the anonymous posts of our dancers describing how they feel about themselves, the mirror and what they hope to work on. This exhibit is an important look into the hearts and minds of these young dancers.
Performances at The Ballet Center
The Ballet Center prides itself in the professional quality of its performances. The culmination performance held in June showcases our entire student body and all of our dance styles. Culmination performances have included Jaimie and The Giant Peach, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Les Sylphides, Coppelia, Snow White, Gaite Parisienne, Pictures at an Exhibition, La Bayadere: Kingdom of the Shades, Cinderella, The Sleeping Beauty Act III, Spartacus, The Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, Thumbelina and Peter Pan!
The Ballet Center presents The Nutcracker!
Every other year, The Ballet Center produces the full-length holiday ballet, The Nutcracker. All classical students in the leveled ballet classes are able to participate in this wonderful performance opportunity. Performing in full-length ballets gives the students much more than dance experience, they learn about acting, mime, team work, and commitment. There is a show participation fee for this performance and all the costumes are rented. This helps to keep performing costs down for our dance families.
The Ballet Center Holiday Show!
During our no-Nutcracker years we produce a Holiday Show showcasing our non-ballet styles such as Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Contemporary in an exciting holiday variety production! All children who are enrolled in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary or Combo dance classes will be cast in our Holiday Show. Combo dance classes perform one style. As with all of our shows, dancers always have the choice to opt our of one, or all, of the numbers in which they have been cast. This show also has a performance fee but no costumes need to be purchased for this production which, like our Nutcracker, will help to keep costs down.
